I was a chunky little kid who turned into an over weight teenager. I wasn't very good at sports, so I took a photo class in high school and fell in love with photography.

Right after high school, I worked at a photo lab part time while I build my photography business.
I shot everything from family portraits, models & actors, pets, real estate, furniture, whatever... I even covered events for the local paper and photographed some very famous people.
If someone was willing to pay me... I was up for shooting just about anything.
I photographed President Reagan when he went for a Goodyear blimp ride in 1992
After a few years of shooting anything and everything, I decided to specialize in wedding photography.
I actually put up my first website in 1995 (when websites were brand new) and suddenly found myself shooting weddings all over the world... including at the Vatican in 2004.
To this day I still shoot weddings and you can see more of my work here.
I was fortunate to find success as a wedding photographer so I started helping my friends build their businesses.
I ended up speaking at dozens of photo conventions around the world, built an online photo school, started coaching my fellow photographers, and consulting for several photography companies and other wedding vendors.
I specifically helped them develop their brands and enhance their online presences (website, social media, etc...)
On stage at the MGM in Las Vegas March 2016
Ever since I was a little kid, I have been overweight. I spend all of my twenties and most of my thirties bouncing from one fad diet to another.
Over the years, I tried just about everything (including hiring personal trainers and nutritionists) and no matter what... the weight always found it's way back.
I obviously knew I was a big guy, but I never thought of myself as "obese" until I saw this photo when I shot a wedding in Vegas in 2010.
I weighed myself and was shocked to learn I was almost 300 pounds.
At that point, I just knew I had to make a change once and for all.
In December 2010, I read Tim Ferriss' "Four Hour Body", followed his slow carb plan and promptly lost 70 pounds in a year despite the weekly cheat days.
I kept the weight off for a couple years, then life got in the way. Breakups, business ventures falling apart, a long distance relationship, tons of travel, moving to the Midwest, excuses, excuses, excuses...
The cheat days turned into cheat weeks and by the Spring of 2015, I had gained back half of the weight I lost.
By the time I realized that I gained half the weight back, it was the month before my daughter was born.
I was going to be a first time dad at 41. By contrast, when my dad was 41, I was 20!
My little girl was my motivation for not only losing weight, but getting healthy once and for all! I want to be around to watch my little girl grow up!
My life changed forever on May 27, 2015 at 10:48am.
I read the book "Eat Bacon, Don't Jog" and it was life changing. It not only confirmed the dangers of sugar and grains, it also opened my eyes to the benefits of adding healthy fats to my diet and that has made all the difference.
I went Keto and immediately lost the 35 pounds I had gained back and then some!
I read everything I possibly could about the low carb lifestyle, watched a ton of YouTube videos, listened to podcasts, read over 1,000 articles and I follow many keto & paleo advocates on Twitter.
My health & nutrition library continues to grow
After hosting an informal weightloss challenge for some of my Facebook friends, I put together an online course and coaching program called the Lazy Man's Challenge.
I wanted to prove that you can lose plenty of weight without working out at all, as long as you get your diet right.
Over 200 people signed up for my challenge and we lost over 5,000 pounds collectively.
Over 75% of the participants lost at least 10% of their body weight in the first 100 days.
I also finally eclipsed the 100 pounds down mark!

I figured since I was helping people lose weight, it would be nice to take a formal course on nutrition, so in January of 2017, I became a Certified Primal Health Coach.
I already knew a lot of the material covered in the course since I had been reading so much about nutrition, but if nothing else, the course gave me the confidence to know that the science backs me up about the benefits and safety of a low carbohydrate diet.
After getting certified, I realized that movement, not necessarily exercise, is an essential component of a healthy lifestyle so I rebranded the Lazy Man's Challenge to Ketology.
I offer online keto coaching at ketology.co
